The Citroen H Van or 'H-Type' was developed between 1947 and 1981 as a simple front wheel driven van after World War II. A total of 473,289 were produced in 34 years in factories in France and Belgium.
I remember seeing a few H Vans while in France in the late 1970s, mostly being used as Chicken coops in Farmers fields. But it was a few years later that I really noticed just how beautiful they were.It was the late 1980‰۪s and I was visiting Bibendum in London ( the up-market store & restaurant) They had an H van in the foyer being used to sell flowers from. Nowadays you will probably see an H Van selling Coffee, cakes, cookies or crepes at any of the major car or vintage shows. Perhaps one day we will be selling our T-shirts from the back of one.
